Real rain prevents Purple Rain
Purple Rain, the Student Union's new outdoor campus party, was postponed Friday because of weather conditions, Union officials said.High winds and heavy rains were present through Friday afternoon, but the rain mostly subsided before the party's planned start time of 10 p.m.
The Union postponed the event until Nov. 3, Director of Executive Affairs Adam Gartner '07 said Sunday night.
"We're confident the party on November 3rd will be just as successful, if not more, than the originally scheduled Purple Rain," Gartner said.
Union officials spent the last several weeks trying to put together an event to replace Modfest, a popular party in the Foster Mods, after administrators said the event could no longer be held because of excessive drinking and increased ambulance calls.
