Ben Serby '10, Phil Lacombe '10 and Rivka Maizlish '10 from the group Students Opposed to the Decision to Arm the Police reported on their meeting with University President Jehuda Reinharz. They said they collected 830 signatures from students dissatisfied with the process surrounding the decision. The students said Reinharz didn't share their opinion. They also said they wished there had been an opportunity for more open discussion of the issue on campus. The students plan to draft a Senate resolution regarding the decision.The Senate dechartered the Campus Girl Scouts of Brandeis University because its president had graduated and the club is no longer active. Executive Senator Jessica Blumberg '09 said the club's former members agreed with the decision.

Senator for Ziv Quad Justin Sulsky '09 reported that Aramark had fixed a problem whereby students using WhoCash had not been able to take advantage of the "Buy six meals-Get one free" in Sherman.

Senator-at-Large Andrew Brooks '09 announced that he is creating a survey for current first-year students regarding their opinions of the Novus Facebook to find out if it is worth continuing to spend the Student Union's money for its annual production.

He added that he had toured the campus with Senator for the Class of 2010 Jenna Brofsky and compiled a list of locations for park benches with the goal of setting them up by spring.

Senator for the Class of 2008 Asher Tanenbaum reported that he wants to explore the possibility of a crosswalk on South Street between the gym and the rest of campus. Senator for East Quad Tamar Ariel '10 also suggested erecting signs to warn cars of students crossing the street.

After a presentation by Senator for the Class of 2008 Darran Gallant, chair of Club Support Committee, on the ways a senator can support clubs seeking to be chartered, some senators expressed concern that the large number of chartered clubs on campus was not reflected in the number of events offered. Senators raised questions about the extent to which clubs overlap in their purposes. Gallant said he would work this year to have senators follow up with newly chartered clubs. He also said he intends to reexamine the process of club-chartering this year as well as the definition of secured clubs.
