Despite scoring only three goals this season after scoring eight last year, forward Melissa Gorenkoff '10 has found another way to make her presence known on the field.Last weekend her strong play put her in the record books as she set the school's all-time record with 24 career assists, surpassing Kelly Vaughan '88, in the team's 4-2 win at Emory University.

Gorenkoff, though, was quick to point out how others helped her achieve this feat.

"It was very exciting," Gorenkoff said of her reaction to her record-setting performance. "I'm very happy, and I couldn't have done it without the help of my teammates."

Gorenkoff also scored her third goal of the season against the Eagles. Her assistant coach, Kerry O'Malley, thinks this game could lead to even stronger games in the future.

"I definitely think it was good for her [Gorenkoff's] confidence," O'Malley said after the game against Emory. "She has been marked a lot during the past few games. A lot of times coaches will double-team her, so it's difficult for her to get goals, so I think it was very rewarding for her and for us."

More milestones may be in the cards for Gorenkoff, as she is now tied for seventh place in school history on the career points list with 70 and 10th in team history with 23 career goals.

Last season, Gorenkoff tied for the team lead in goals with eight goals and had team highs in assists (nine) and points (25).

She also was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Tournament Most Valuable Player last year after scoring four goals and two assists in three games as the Judges won the tournament title for the second year in a row.

This season, Gorenkoff is third on the team with 12 points.
