Medical Emergency
December 12—University Police received a report of an intoxicated party vomiting in Reitman Hall and notified Cataldo Ambulance, who transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care. The Area Coordinator on call was notified.
December 12—A Facilities Services member reported that one of their employees had fallen at Sachar International Center and been transported to the hospital by a family member. This was reported to the Office of Human Resources, but never directly reported to the University Police.
December 13—Department of Community Living staff requested University Police and BEMCo staff’s presence during a well-being check on a resident in Ridgewood Quad. All was in order.
December 14—BEMCo staff responded to a report of a student having an allergic reaction in Massell Quad. Waltham Fire Department and Cataldo Ambulance responded, and the Area Coordinator on call was notified. The party was transported by Cataldo Ambulance to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care.
December 14—Waltham Fire Department and Cataldo Ambulance responded to a party having difficulty breathing in Ridgewood Quad. Cataldo Ambulance transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care, and the Area Coordinator on call was notified.
December 14—University Police requested an ambulance for a Section #12 psychological transport after a report from Academic Services staff. Waltham Fire Department transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care.
December 14—The Area Coordinator on call notified University Police of a potential domestic violence incident in North Quad. The parties involved told the responding police that the argument was only a verbal, but not physical confrontation. The Area Coordinator on call will speak with both parties and the University Police compiled a report.
December 15—A potentially intoxicated homeless party came to the Health Center and told University Police that he was suffering from pancreatitis. BEMCo staff responded, and Cataldo Ambulance transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care.
December 15—BEMCo staff treated a party in East Quad with a cut on their palm, and University Police transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care.
December 15—BEMCo staff treated an intoxicated party in Reitman Hall, who was then transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care. University Police compiled a Community Standards Report and the Area Coordinator on call was notified.
December 16—BEMCo staff treated a party in Village with flu-like symptoms, who signed a refusal for further care.
December 18—Waltham Police called Brandeis Police about a 911 call they received requesting medical aid. BEMCo staff treated the party at Cable Hall and Cataldo Ambulance transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care. The Area Coordinator on call was notified.
December 21—A staff member at the Usdan Student Center reported feeling faint. Cataldo Ambulance staff responded and treated the party, finding that their blood sugar was low. The party signed a refusal for further care.
January 16—A party at Deroy Hall reported ingesting several tablets of prescription medication. BEMCo staff and University Police responded, and the party was treated on site before being transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care. Waltham Fire Department and Cataldo Ambulance were notified, and the Area Coordinator on call was present.
January 16—A party at the Carl J. Shapiro Science Center injured their ankle. BEMCo staff treated the party and University Police transported them to Urgent Care for further care.
January 16—BEMCo staff treated a party with an injured knee at Ziv Quad, who was then transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care. The Area Coordinator on call was notified.
January 18—BEMCo staff treated a party having difficulty breathing at Gordon Hall. University Police transported them to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care, and the Area Coordinator on call was notified.
January 18—BEMCo staff treated a party who was feeling ill at Usen Hall. The party signed a refusal for further care.
January 19—BEMCo staff treated an intoxicated party in Shapiro Hall having an anxiety problem and got a signed refusal for further care. University Police also responded, and the Area Coordinator on call was notified.
January 19—BEMCo staff treated an intoxicated party in Massell Quad. Cataldo Ambulance transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care, and the Area Coordinator on call was notified.
Disturbance
December 11—University Police received a noise complaint about music in Rosenthal Quad. Residents complied without incident with instructions to quiet down.
December 15—A party reported loud music coming from Charles River Apartments. University Police found the area quiet when they arrived.
December 16—University Police received a report of a loud party in the Foster Mods and told the parties to quiet down.
December 16—University Police and Department of Community Living staff responded to a noise complaint in the Foster Mods, removing all parties who did not live in the apartment.
January 8—University Police asked residents of Foster Mods to turn down their music after receiving a noise complaint.
January 14—After receiving a noise complaint at Foster Mods, University Police checked the area, but found it quiet when they arrived.
January 16—University Police and the Waltham Police Department responded to a reported disturbance at the Foster Mods, but all was quiet at the scene.
January 19—University Police received a report of a noisy party in Ridgewood Quad and advised the residents to quiet down. They complied without incident.
Larceny
December 14—University Police compiled a report on a coat missing from a common area in Goldfarb Library.
December 17—University Police compiled a report on a laptop that went missing while unattended in a common area in Goldfarb Library and notified Information Technology Services.
December 17—University Police compiled a report on a Macbook that went missing while unattended in a common area in Goldfarb Library. Information Technology Services was notified.
December 18—A party reported a chair that had been stolen from East Quad while left unattended in a common area, and University Police compiled a report on the incident.
January 9—A staff member reported an internet-based scam, which was confirmed.
January 16—A party at the Usdan Student Center reported that another party had been the victim of an internet scam. University Police compiled a report and Information Technology Services was notified.
January 17—A party reported about $330 missing from the Student Sexuality Information Services office in the Shapiro Campus Center. University Police found no forced entry and compiled a report.
January 17—A party reported that their laptop had been stolen while left unattended in Farber Library, and University Police compiled a report.
Harassment
December 14—University Police compiled a report on a “concerning” email that the Office of Student Financial Services received from a former student.
December 19—University Police compiled a report on harassing text messages sent by a Sodexo employee, and Sodexo management will handle the incident.
December 19—A party in Renfield Hall reported to the University Police that someone had left a note under their door telling them to turn the music down or they would call the police. University Police compiled a report and the Area Coordinator on call spoke with the party.
January 11—A staff member in Kutz Hall reported a harassment incident, which was confirmed.
Drugs
December 21—The Area Coordinator on call in Skyline confiscated bongs and marijuana. The University Police compiled a report and Department of Community Living staff will file a CSR.
Miscellaneous Suspicious Circumstances
December 12—After receiving two complaints of students on the Massell Quad pond, University Police checked the area. It was clear.
December 12—University Police compiled a report concerning non-threatening Facebook posts from an alumnus.
December 13—A staff member in the Goldfarb Library reported an email containing a bomb threat to University Police, who compiled a report and found no credibility in the threat. After investigation, University Police determined that other companies, educational institutions and hospitals in the country received the same email around the same time.
