MEDICAL EMERGENCY 

Mar. 15—BEMCo staff treated a party who fell in the shower and struck their head in Ziv 129. The party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance.

Mar. 18—There was a report of a Sodexo worker who got degreaser in their eyes while working. BEMCo reported on-scene and the party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance.

Mar. 24—A party in Sheffres Hall reported flu-like symptoms, including a fever. BEMCo responded on-scene and notified the area coordinator on call. The party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance for further care.

Mar. 27—A party in the Charles River Apartments reported feeling unwell and requested their temperature be taken. BEMCo responded to this request.

Mar. 28—A party in Village Residence Hall reported feeling unwell upon exiting the shower. BEMCo Staff responded on-scene with a signed refusal for further care.

Apr. 2—A student at 567 South Street called BEMCo to report having flu-like symptoms. BEMCo staff reported on-scene and requested an ambulance. The ambulance’s staff treated the party with a signed refusal for further care.

Apr. 8—A party in Ziv Quad reported feeling ill with no signs of a fever. BEMCo staff responded on-scene with a signed refusal for further care.

Apr. 8—BEMCo staff reported checking in on a party in Ziv Quad who requested medical assistance with a signed refusal for further care.

Apr. 14—University Police on patrol reported that a party fell and sprained their ankle outside of the Shapiro Campus Center. University Police requested BEMCo, who treated the party with an ACE bandage. The party signed refusal for further care and University Police transported the party back to their home.

May 30—A party in Skyline Residence Hall called University Police for a non-medical emergency and requested BEMCo assistance. The party was informed that BEMCo was currently out of service and was given the on-call nurse’s phone number. No further action was taken by the police.

June 23—The Nursing Director at McLean Hospital contacted University Police in regards to a student in the Foster Mods’s well being. The party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance for further care and the area coordinator on call was notified.

June 24—There was a report of a party in the Shapiro Campus Center who was having trouble breathing and numbness in their hands. University Police responded on scene and notified Cataldo Ambulance and the Waltham Fire Department. The party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance for further care, and the area coordinator on call was notified.

June 27—A reporter in the Foster Mods called University Police to claim that they were frightened by a party who came out of the woods. University Police searched the area and the party had vacated prior to their arrival. A report was compiled on the incident and Waltham Police were notified.

Aug 7—There was a report of a party with a finger laceration in Village Residence Hall. The party was treated on-scene and was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance for further care.

Aug 20—There was a report of a party with an ankle injury in Massell Quad. The party was treated on-scene with a signed refusal for further care. 

Aug 23—There was a report of a medical emergency in Massell Quad. The party was treated by Cataldo EMS and signed a refusal for further care.

Aug 24—A party in Pomerantz Hall fainted. The party was treated on-scene and signed a refusal for further care.

Aug 25—A party in Massell Quad twisted their ankle. The party was treated on-scene and given a ride back to their building.

Aug 29—A party in 567 South Street reported a possible drug overdose. The party was treated by BEMCo and transported to a local hospital by Cataldo Ambulance.

Aug 29—BEMCo staff responded to a call in the Charles River Apartments for alcohol intoxication. The party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance for further care. University Police submitted a Community Standards Report on the incident.

 Sept 1—BEMCo staff treated a party in the Charles River Apartments experiencing a drug-related emergency. The party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital by Cataldo Ambulance.

Sept 2—A party in Ridgewood Residence Quad reported feeling unwell. BEMCo Staff responded on-scene and the party signed a refusal for further care.

Sept 2—A party in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center reported a medical issue. BEMCo Staff treated the party and the party was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital by Cataldo Ambulance.

Sept 3—A party on Loop Road reported an elbow laceration after falling. BEMCo Staff responded on-scene and the party signed a refusal for further care.

Sept 5—A party in Rosenthal Residence Quad reported feeling unwell. BEMCo Staff responded on-scene and the party signed a refusal for further care.

LARCENY

Mar. 17—A party in the Foster Mods reported several watches stolen from their room. The party also stated that their door was vandalized by someone throwing eggs at it. University police compiled reports on both incidents.

Apr. 1—DCL staff called University Police to report a missing television from the Shapiro Hall common area. University Police compiled a report on the incident.

July 14—There was a report of the theft of two lacrosse nets.

DRUG VIOLATION

Aug 18—There was a report of an odor of marijuana coming from the Foster Mods. Officers checked the area and found all to be quiet and in order.

BOMB THREAT

Aug 20—A bomb threat was received by telephone at 9:58 a.m. University Police and the Waltham Fire Department inspected campus. No explosive devices were found and the all clear was given at 1:35 p.m.

HARASSMENT

Mar. 15—A party reported being harassed by their ex-boyfriend, who is not a member of the Brandeis community. University Police compiled a report on the incident and the ex-boyfriend was sent a trespass letter.

Apr. 20—A staff member in the Usdan Student Center reported receiving harassment via email.

Apr. 23—A staff member reported that their Zoom video call was “zoom-bombed” by unwanted visitors. A report was compiled on the incident.

Apr. 30—A staff member reported harassment while engaged in a Zoom video conference call. 

Apr. 30—The Brandeis Hoot reported receiving a spam email. A report will be compiled on this incident.

May 16—There was a report of two parties in a verbal altercation on the lower road. The reporting party called from the Charles River Emergency Call box but disconnected before giving sufficient information. University Police arrived on scene to find that the two parties had vacated the area. Ten minutes later, the two were located near 567 South Street. University Police arrived on scene with Waltham Police. University Police compiled a report on the incident.

May 28—A staff member in the Shapiro Admissions Center reported receiving harassment via email. University Police compiled a report on the incident.

May 31—A staff member in the Stoneman Building reported receiving harassment via email. University Police compiled a report on the incident. The University Information Technology Service was notified to trace the possible sender. The Waltham and Belmont Police Departments were sent a copy of the police report.

June 6—There was a past report of a cyber-extortion attempt via Facebook Messenger. University Police compiled a report of the incident.

July 9—There was a report of a suspicious email sent from a Brandeis alum to a Professor. A report was compiled on the incident.

July 18—A staff member in the Shapiro Admissions Center reported receiving harassment via email. University Police compiled a report on the incident.

MISCELLANEOUS

Mar. 17— A student called to report a friend of theirs was making threats toward both of them. The dispatcher contacted the area coordinator on call to obtain the caller’s information. The area coordinator contacted the reporting party and University Police. University Police contacted the Brandeis Counseling Center to further investigate this incident.

Mar. 17—There was a report of a suspicious party outside of a window in the Foster Mods. University Police surveyed the scene and were unable to find the party.

Mar. 19—A caller complained of a loud noise outside of the Rosenthal Residence Quad, sounding like pieces of metal being struck together. University Police checked the area, and all was quiet upon their arrival. 

Mar. 19—There were reports of two open doors in the Foster Mods. In both cases, the apartments were secured and vacant. University Police compiled reports on the two incidents.

Mar. 27—A concerned party called University Police concerned about a friend of theirs that was in the woods by the Charles River Apartments. University Police arrived on scene and located the party.

Mar. 30—A student living in Skyline Residence Hall called University Police to report that there was the possibility of someone living in a tent outside of their room. University Police arrived on-scene and were able to locate the owner of the tent. Upon further investigation, University Police discovered that the tent was being aired out and nobody was living in it. University Police cleared the scene without any further action.

Apr. 1—University Police discovered a suspicious party sleeping on a sofa in the Village Residence Hall. University Police were able to identify the party as a former student who is currently homeless. University Police escorted her off campus without further incident.

Apr. 8—There was a report of a suspicious person in the Volen Center. The reporting party stated that the subject was hiding from them upon entering the building. Upon a floor by floor sweep of the building, University Police were unable to identify a person in the building. No further action was taken on this matter.

Apr. 8—University Police and Waltham Police responded to a 911 call in 567 South Street. Upon entry to the building, the caller stated that they were fine and the call was accidental and all parties left the building.

Apr. 9—University Police and the area coordinator on call responded to a suspicious party in Deroy Hall. The area coordinator on call confirmed that the person living in the area works for DCL and is authorized to be there with no further action taken.

Apr. 14—There was a noise complaint in the 567 South Street apartments. University Police spoke to the party who was using a punching bag for exercise. The party was advised without incident.

May 7—There was a report of an unknown man bathing in the men’s bathroom in the Usdan Student Center. After searching the entire building, University Police were unable to identify the party.

May 11—A party in Village Residence Hall reported a suspicious man coming to their room and subsequently going through a refrigerator in a common area. Upon a search of Village Residence Hall, University Police were unable to identify the suspect. A report was compiled on the incident.

May 21—A party in Ziv Quad reported getting scammed on a telephone call. University police compiled a report on the incident.

May 16—University Police assisted the Waltham Police in searching for a missing party. About 15 minutes later, the party was located by the Waltham Police without incident and the Waltham Police Department advised the University Police.

May 31—A party in Skyline Residence Hall reported a suspicious man entering the building. University Police conducted a search of the building but were unable to locate the suspected party and cleared the building.

June 1—A staff member of the Rose Art Museum called University Police due to a vehicle parked in the staff lot area. The party did not give a license plate number, but gave a description of the vehicle to University Police. Upon arriving on scene, no vehicle matched the description.

June 6—A party called University Police to claim that they were being followed by a car with no license plates on Loop Road following a road rage incident on South Street. University Police searched the area to locate the car, but they were unsuccessful. Upon searching the CCTV footage, University Police were able to find the car leaving Brandeis’ campus. The reporting party did not wish to pursue this any further.

June 16—There was a report of a lab supplies alarm. University Police identified the party in question and escorted them from university property. All areas were checked and in order.

July 5—There was a noise complaint at the Foster Mods. Residents were advised to lower their volume without incident.

July 8—Facilities staff reported damage to the Bassine Science Building roof area. Photographs of the damage were attached and scanned into the report.

July 15—There was a report of a party asking for money outside of the Usdan Student Center. University Police arrived on scene and all was quiet and in order.

July 30—A vehicle operator on Loop Road reported that they had struck a parked vehicle. A report of the incident was compiled.

Aug 1—Graffiti was discovered on a rear wall of the Goldman-Schwartz Fine Arts building. A report of the incident was compiled and DFM was contracted to remove the graffiti.

Aug 17—There was a report of a suspicious party on Chapels Field. University Police arrived on scene and all was quiet and in order.

Aug 23—University Police responded to a call from the Charles River Apartments for a noise complaint. University Police requested that the music be turned down and the party was compliant.

Aug 24—A community member reported an unattended Panera bag. University Police checked the bag to find one day-old Panera food and threw it in the trash.

Aug 26—There was a report of a stray dog near Skyline Residence Hall. The dog was reunited with its owner.

Aug 28—There was a report of graffiti on the Abelson-Bass-Yalem Physics building. A report of the incident was composed.

Aug 30—A party called University Police to report a suspicious male on campus with a holster attached to his pants. Upon arrival, University Police discovered that the holster was being used to hold a cell phone.

Aug 31—There were multiple reports of vandalism on the Mailman Building. A report of the incidents was compiled.

Sept 3—There was a noise complaint from the tennis courts. The area coordinator on call was notified. Upon arrival, University Police noticed a group of students talking. The group was cleared without incident.
