EDITORIAL: Evaluate University Campus Climate Survey

The first results of the Brandeis Climate Survey on sexual misconduct were released last week. The findings are based on the responses of over 1,500 graduate and undergraduate students and provide insight into the scope of sexual misconduct among members of the community, as well as identify areas for the community’s concern and improvement. 










TENNIS BRIEF Squad starts year at road meet

The men’s tennis team opened its Fall season last weekend at the Middlebury College Invitational with strong play in both singles and doubles action, sending three players to the tournament’s second day. Brian Granoff ’17 led the charge for the Judges, defeating the tournament’s top seed, Middlebury senior Ari Smolyar, in the semifinals en route to Brandeis’ only finals appearance of the tournament on the weekend. 






Men and women both win at home

Gordon Field proved to be a home fortress for the Judges on Tuesday night as both the men’s and women’s soccer teams defended their home turf against visiting opponents. The 25th-ranked women, playing in their home opener, downed the Bridgewater State Bears 3-1 to remain a perfect 3-0 on the year while the No. 7 men escaped with a 1-0 victory over Nichols College to push their record to 3-1.


Condemn automation as a replacement for human capability

Almost every culture has their story of a man who is not a man, the tirelessly working golem that feels no pain and will do any task asked of it. The most recent incarnation is made of wire, circuits and metal, with a brain of silicone inscribed with ones and zeros and a heart powered by tame lightning.  This is, of course, the robot.
