Women's Basketball: Youth strive to lead the Judges

The women's basketball team will enter the 2012-13 season with an entirely new outlook. Guards Morgan Kendrew '12 and Dianna Cincotta '11, MA '12, the offensive leaders for the Judges in 2012, have graduated, and the squad will look to wipe the slate clean after a disappointing 9-16 campaign last year. The chief concern this year for the women's basketball team will be to excel during a transition season. Coach Carol Simon, returning to the helm of the Judges for her 26th season, seeks to finish the rebuilding project for a squad, which, just four years ago, was ranked No.


Fencing: Individuals pick up notable results

The Brandeis men's and women's fencing teams started their seasons firing on all cylinders at the Big One Invitational last Saturday at Smith College. In the massive pool of 493 fencers representing eighteen different colleges, six Judges-two women and four men-medaled. Caroline Mattos '16 was the top Judge at the Big One Invitational, finishing in first place in the women's foil.


Swimming and Diving: Teams reappear at UAA tourney

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams participated in their second competition of the season in the Mini-University Athletic Association meet at the University of Rochester last Friday and Saturday. In addition to Rochester, the Judges faced New York University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Case Western Reserve University over the two-day meet that featured 41 events. The big story for the Judges was the performance of Max Fabian '15 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.


Women's Tennis: Team competes well in its final matches of fall

* The Brandeis University women's tennis team had a successful last weekend at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament. * Facing opposition from schools like Mount Holyoke College, Trinity College, Tufts University, and Amherst College and Middlebury College, the Judges were able to get some valuable experience in concluding their fall season.
