Friedman '75 to teach next year

Thomas L. Friedman '75, the three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist, will teach a course here for one semester next academic year, University President Jehuda Reinharz announced at a reception in the Rapaporte Treasure Hall Friday.Although the specifics of the class have yet to be determined, Reinharz said it will likely be an economics course about globalization.


USEM reform under UCC review

A proposal to extensively restructure the USEM program by allowing discipline-specific classes, instituting a standardized Intensive Writing Seminar (IWS) and decreasing class size is currently under review by the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, according to Dean of Arts and Sciences Adam Jaffe.The Undergraduate Curriculum-USEM Review Committee submitted the 12-page proposal for consideration by the UCC on Sept.


Heller School construction to be completed by fall 2006

The construction of a new building at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management is on schedule and the structure will be occupancy ready by the end of next summer, Assistant to the Heller Dean Jerry Boren said.The new Schneider Building, made possible by a $15 million gift from Irving Schneider and smaller donations from others, will provide approximately 34,000 square feet of space for classrooms, offices and other space, according to the Office of Capital Projects Web site.Boren said the Heller School's enrollment has grown dramatically in recent years and the new space will help accommodate that demand."We're looking forward with great anticipation to having better space," Boren said.
