Union appoints successors to Gubbala and Hirschhorn

Tamar Ariel '10 and Danielle Wolfson '11 will serve as the Student Union director of Student Rights and Advocacy and director of Academic Affairs, respectively, according to Lev Hirschhorn '11 and Supreetha Gubbala '12, who formerly served in those roles before stepping down at the end of the fall 2009 semester.


New Flash movie to premiere

The Home Page Redesign Committee has developed a new Flash movie featuring the new marketing theme of "Community, Opportunity and Justice" for the Brandeis Web site's home page that will potentially be put up on the site before winter break, according to Assistant Vice President of Communications Ken Gornstein.The committee, which is composed of faculty, staff and students, met throughout the fall to find a way to implement the marketing themes suggested by the Curriculum and Academic Restructuring Steering committee's Subcommittee on Admissions and Marketing last year.


Senate Log

Senator for the Class of 2012 Nipun Marwaha resigned from the Student Union at its Nov. 22 meeting, saying, "I think at the juncture, the Student Union is essentially falling apart." At the meeting, he said that the executive board was exercising what amounted to arbitrary power and that there are issues that need to be addressed in the Constitutional Review Committee.Student Union Director of Academic Affairs Supreetha Gubbala '12 resigned, saying, "I personally have become invested in another passion of my life." She will be devoting her time to her club and academics.The Senate derecognized 53 clubs that had not signed forms regarding the anti-hazing policy.


Conduct process under review

The Campus Conduct Committee has been formed and will continue to meet for the remainder of the year every other week to review the student conduct process, Director of Student Rights and Community Standards Dean Gendron, who is serving as the co-chairperson of the committee, wrote in an e-mail to the Justice.According to Gendron, "[Dean of Student Life Rick] Sawyer charged us with an introspective review of the student conduct process in order to certify that the provisions, largely unamended for more than two decades, continue to appropriately represent the needs of Brandeis' undergraduate and graduate students."The committee meets every other Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m.


Committee holds first meeting

The Constitutional Review Committee, which is examining possible changes to the Student Union Constitution, discussed procedural issues at its first meeting Nov.


Laptop Connect service debuts

Library and Technology Services' new Laptop Connect service, which provides amenities such as laptop docking stations, chargers and wireless printing to Brandeis laptop users, began operation last Monday, according to LTS Director of Integrated Services Josh Wilson.

Leonard Bernstein Scholarship remains canceled indefinitely

The Leonard Bernstein Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship that provides full tuition to incoming students based on musical merits, will no longer be awarded to incoming students and was not offered to students in the Class of 2013, according to Dean of Financial Services Peter Giumette.
