Senate strives to adopt new mailroom system

The Senate is working to institute a new electronic package notification system on campus in order to make picking up packages at the mailroom more convenient, efficient and environmentally friendly, according to Class of 2016 Senator Jonathan Jacob.


University looks to establish WhoCash use for vending

The University is working on a new initiative to allow students to use WhoCash to purchase from the Coca-Cola vending machines on campus, according to Chair of the Campus Operations Work Group and Class of 2014 Senator Andre Tran, . This development came about due to a combination of factors, including student feedback, discussion with the Student Union Senate and a recent contract renewal with Coca-Cola, which opened up discussion as to how the system could be improved, according to Tran. Tran, who is trying to help push this initiative through, said that the purpose of these changes is to increase the usage of the machines. He wrote in an email to the Justice that the Senate is still in the initial phases of this project, but that the changes will hopefully be implemented sometime this semester. "This has been in the back of the mind of the Office of University Services for a while.


Conference bridges cultures

Brandeis Bridges, a multicultural initiative on campus, held its first annual conference on Sunday in order to discuss its mission of bringing together the black and Jewish communities.


Event examines North Korea

On Thursday, students gathered to hear about the humanitarian issues in North Korea at an event called "The Secret Underground Railroad Out of North Korea," hosted by the club Brandeis Liberty in North Korea as part of 'Deis Impact. The event addressed North Korea's status as one of the most secretive countries in the world and the problems that accompany that fact.


Participants discuss Judaism and charity

This past Sunday, a small group of about five students who also helped to organize the event came together to discuss how social justice and Judaism are linked at an event called "Do Justice and Love Kindness: Models of Charity and Social Action in Judaism." The event was hosted by the Now Project as part of 'Deis Impact. In an interview with the Justice, Associate Chair of the Executive Committee of the Now Project Sara Fried '15 said that the goal of the event was to get people talking to and learning from one another.
