Case statement in search process released

The Presidential Search Committee released Brandeis' case statement, "an overview of the university and all that it offers, as well as a description of the ideal candidate and priorities the committee feels our next president must be prepared to address," last Tuesday, according to Chair of the Presidential Search Committee Stephen Kay's update on the presidential search Web site.The case statement, which is available online, includes information on the University's history, campuswide community, academic programs and financial affairs.

Chair of the Constitutional Review Committee Jessica Steinberg '10 presented the committee's report to the Student Union Senate and discussed the 11 proposed amendments with senators.


Parker hired as new Rose registrar

Kristin Parker, the archivist and records manager at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, has been hired as the new collections manager and registrar for the Rose Art Museum, according to a campuswide e-mail sent last Friday by Provost Marty Krauss.Valerie Wright, the Rose's former collections manager and registrar, resigned last December after receiving an offer to serve as registrar of the Art Museum at West Virginia University.In addition to serving as archivist and records manager at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Parker is also the museum's collections manager and manager of contemporary art and public programs, Krauss wrote in her e-mail.


Koplow declines bid for president

University Trustee Meyer Koplow '72, who stepped down from the chairmanship of the Presidential Search Committee after receiving a nomination for University president, "has asked the search committee to withdraw his nomination," according to Chair of the Presidential Search Committee Stephen Kay's update on the Presidential Search Web site.

Clarification appended.University trustee Meyer Koplow '72 has stepped down from the chairmanship of the Presidential Search Committee following his nomination for University president by a faculty member, according to Chair of the Board of Trustees Malcolm Sherman in an e-mail to the Brandeis community last Tuesday.


Search firm to be chosen by February

The Presidential Search Committee expects to select a search firm by the end of this month and to present a candidate profile and case statement, a document detailing the University's "goals and aspirations for a new president," to the advisory committees by March, according to the newly launched Presidential Search Web site.


Committee in process of choosing search firm

At a Dec. 3 faculty meeting, Presidential Search Committee Member Prof. Gregory Petsko (BCHM) announced that two subcommittees will be created from within the search committee to identify a search firm that will assist in the presidential search and to develop a mission statement, a document that will be used to attract presidential candidates.


Univ making new system for room reservations and event scheduling

Resource 25, a new online reservation system for scheduling classes and booking rooms for student organization or University department events, is in the process of being developed, according to University Registrar Mark Hewitt.Student Union President Andy Hogan '11 explained in his State of the Union address last Thursday that the new system will also enable student organizations and University departments to check online what spaces are available for booking.


Sherman appoints Hogan to search committee

Student Union President Andy Hogan '11 announced at last Thursday's State of the Union Address that he has been appointed as a nonvoting student member to the Presidential Search Committee by Chair of the Board of Trustees Malcolm Sherman.


Schuster appointed to UN

Elaine Schuster, a founding donor of the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism and a board member of the Women's Studies Research Center, has been appointed as the United States representative to the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to an e-mail to the Justice from the Schuster Institute.
