According to statistics from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the University currently has a 14.2 percent increase in applications from this time last year.

Former Prime Minister of Iceland Geir Haarde '73 was found guilty of failing to adequately inform other Icelandic officials of events that led up to the 2008 financial crisis, according to an April 23 New York Times article. Haarde, who majored in Economics at Brandeis, is the first world leader to be criminally charged in relation to the 2008 global economic crisis.
Correction appended. The Brandeis Virtual Incubator Sprout Grant Program awarded $80,000 in total to seven winners of the 2012 Sprout Grants, according to an April 11 BrandeisNOW press release. The recipients of the grants have been working on life science or software projects that have an entrepreneurial aspect.

Martin was shot and killed while walking to his father's girlfriend's home in Sanford, Fla.
